Spring is finally here, and many of you may be thinking about refreshing your home. Whether the change is big or small, my goal is simple—I want you to make the right choices and truly decorate with intention.
Your home is your sanctuary. It’s where you unwind, relax, and recharge.
And yet, so many of you feel frustrated—trying to “pull a room together,” only to end up with something that doesn’t feel quite right. You’ve invested time, energy, and money… and still aren’t in love with the result.
The good news? That can absolutely change.
Let’s break free from those decorating challenges once and for all.
What Does It Mean to Decorate With Intention?
Decorating with intention means making thoughtful, purposeful choices that reflect how you live and how you want to feel in your space.
It’s about creating a home that feels warm, authentic, and uniquely yours—by blending colours, textures, and pieces that support your lifestyle and personality.
Five Tips to Help You Decorate With Intention:
1) Take an Honest Inventory
Start by really looking at your space. What’s working—and what isn’t?
Do you need every piece of furniture in the room? Often, we hold onto things out of habit rather than function. Removing even one or two items can instantly create a lighter, more open feel. Don’t be afraid to edit—it’s one of the most powerful tools in design.
2) Position Furniture for Real Life
If something feels “off” in a room, it often comes down to layout.
Your space should work for you, not just follow a design rule. Function always comes first. There’s no sense in having a room that looks beautiful but doesn’t support your day-to-day life. Rearranging furniture—even slightly—can completely change how a room feels and flows.
3) Add Colour & Personality
This is where the fun begins—especially in spring!
Bring in fresh pops of colour through simple, affordable updates like pillows, throws, rugs, or even a statement ottoman. Lighter tones, soft patterns, and natural textures can instantly brighten your space and give it that fresh, seasonal lift.
4) Measure Once… Then Measure Again
You’ve heard it before—and it truly matters.
Whether you’re renovating or purchasing new furniture, accurate measurements are key. One of my favourite tricks is to map out furniture using green painter’s tape right on your floor. It gives you a clear visual of how everything will fit and flow—saving you time, money, and frustration.
5) Surround Yourself With What You Love
Your home should tell your story.
Fill your space with pieces that make you smile—whether it’s something collected on your travels, a meaningful heirloom, or a new find you simply love. When you surround yourself with items that bring you joy, your home becomes a place of comfort, calm, and happiness.
It’s amazing how a room can come to life and feel completely renewed with just a few thoughtful changes. When you decorate with intention, you’re not just designing a space—you’re creating an experience.
Happy Spring!
